Homeward Bound

The beauty of the Vietnamese desert is only matched by the resilience of its people. In this photo, we see a sheepherder leading his flock across a field at high speed—but he's not just running them. He's leading them. With nothing but sand and wind to feed them, each farmer must take care of hundreds of sheep in the desert. The farmers can keep the animals safe while working with them to lead them home at high speed, using only their intuition and human leadership skills to guide them safely.
